Terms & Conditions

Rates

  • Villa Rates are quoted and invoiced in South African Rand (ZAR), inclusive of: 2 daily game drives, guided wilderness walks, all meals, a selection of house beverages, game drives beverages, Kids on Safari programme, 15% VAT and Tourism levy for up to 6 persons.
    • The rates exclude the Kruger National Park conservation levy (which is charged as a once off fee at the South African nationals rate irrespective of guests nationality), premium beverages, discretionary gratuities and all items of a personal nature.
  • Fitzpatrick’s at Jock can accommodate a maximum of 6 adults (2 x adults per bedroom) and an additional 4 children between the ages of 0- 11 years by means of additional bunk beds.
    • Additional children exceeding the 6 persons inclusion will incur the child supplementary rate as specified above.
    • Additional children between the age of 0- 5 years are welcomed on a complimentary basis.
  • The Villa Rate is the minimum rate applied to secure the lodge, no discounts or refunds will be given should the lodge be occupied by less than six (6) persons.
  • All rates are subject to change without prior notice.
  • All rates exclude specialist meals (i.e. certified outsourced Halaal and Kosher meals)
  • We recommend a minimum stay of two nights throughout the year. A minimum 2-night stay restriction is applicable over the Festive Season (15 December 2023 – 07 January 2024).
  • Contracted rates:
    • Only RACK rates are allowed to be published via any and all mediums.
    • All rates listed as “Nett” are confidential and subject to providing the source/origin of bookings as well as the origin of guests at the time of booking.

 

Children’s Policy Applicable to Fitzpatrick’s at Jock

  • This policy applies to all persons from 0 up to and including 11 years old.
  • Persons under the age of 12 years are not permitted on any walking safaris.
  • Children staying at Fitzpatrick’s at Jock: o Children from 0 up to and including 5 years are permitted at Fitzpatrick’s at Jock ONLY.
    • Additional beds can accommodate a maximum of one child each OR two children per bunk bed (11 years or younger)
    • Cots can accommodate a maximum of one child per cot.
    • Complimentary child minding is offered during game drive hours, additional child minding can be secured at an additional cost outside of these times.
    • Additional children from 0 up to and including 5 years old:
      – are accommodated on a complimentary basis when sharing a room with adults
      – dependent on the availability of cots and/or additional bed.
      – are permitted on game drives conducted within the Jock Safari Lodge Concession only
      Additional children from 6 up to and including 11 years old:
      – are accommodated at 50% of the adult sharing rate when sharing a room with adults
      – dependent on the availability of rooms with an additional bed.
      – are permitted on game drives.
      Persons 12 years and older are considered adults.

Main Jock Rates

Rates

  • Children staying at Main Jock: Main Jock accommodate families with children from 6 years and older on the following basis:
    • Applicable adult rate(s) will apply to children of all ages.
    • A private vehicle is reserved for sole use of the family, the daily surcharge of R 8 000 per day for private vehicle use
    • Additional beds can accommodate a maximum of one child each OR two children per bunk bed (11 years or younger)
  • Persons under the age of 12 years are not permitted on any walking safaris.
  • Contracted rates:
    • Only RACK rates are allowed to be published via any and all mediums.
    • All rates listed as “Nett” are confidential and subject to providing the source/origin of bookings as well as the origin of guests at the time of booking.

Value Adding Offers

Travel Information

Kruger Park Entrance:

  • Please note that all adults 18 years and older are required to produce a valid passport or South African Identity Document upon entry to the KNP. A once-off fee is payable in cash upon entering the Kruger National Park, this fee is charged as a once off fee at the South African Resident rate, regardless of the guests nationality as a benefit for staying at a private concession. Please ensure to have your accommodation confirmation at hand to ensure entry at the correct price. This fee is subject to change without prior notice and can therefore be obtained upon request from your Safari Expert.

Insurance

  • We highly recommend that comprehensive travel insurance is taken out, including cover protecting against any COVID related instances.

Special Catering/Outsourced Meals

  • Please note that the outsourcing of any certified meals (i.e. Kosher or Halaal) will incur an additional surcharge per person per day.

Transfers / Gate Times

  • Transfers to and from the concession can be arranged with reservations on request at an additional cost.
    Terms and Conditions relating to road transfers apply, and are available on request/as addendum to this document.
  • All road transfers are handled by accredited car hire and charter companies.
  • Transfers to and from Skukuza Airport can be arranged with reservations on request at an additional cost.
  • Transfers between Jock Safari Lodge and Skukuza are done by Jock Safari Lodge in an open game viewing vehicle.
  • All transfers must be arranged prior to arrival.
  • Self-drive and road transfers from Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (KMIA/MQP) are subject to Kruger National Park gate times.
    • The Kruger National park prohibits the use of roads within the park once the gates are closed therefore guests need to be at their destination and transfer companies must be outside the park by the time the gates close.
    • Jock Safari Lodge is approximately one (1) hour from the Malelane Gate and therefore we recommend that flights to / from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA/MQP) are booked to:
      – arrive at KMIA/MQP no later than 14h30 on day of arrival
      – depart from KMIA/MQP no earlier than 10h00 on day of departure
    • No alternative arrangements can be made.

Minimum Stay Festive Season (15 December 2023 – 07 January 2024)

  • A minimum of a two-night stay will be applied to all bookings over the festive period.
  • Any remaining available inventory will become available for sale 90 days’ prior for one-night reservations.

Direct Clients – Payment Terms

  • Full pre-payment is required 60 days prior to arrival.
  • Full pre-payment will be required at the time of booking for reservations made within 60 days of arrival.
  • Jock Safari Lodge reserves the right to release bookings, should payment not be received by the requested date.
  • All bank charges are for the account of the client and will not be paid by Jock Safari Lodge.

Cancellations

General Terms (01 August 2023 – 30 November 2023 | 15 December 2023 – 30 April 2024)

  • Only written cancellations will be accepted; please ensure you receive an acknowledgment of cancellation from reservations.
  • A fee of 50% of the booking value will be charged if cancellation is less than 60 days prior to arrival.
  • A fee of 100% of the booking value will be charged f cancellation is less than 30 days prior to arrival.
  • All reservations must be cancelled through/ via the original booking channel; failure to do so will result in full payment being required.

Low Season Terms (01 May 2023- 31 July 2023 | 1- 14 December 2023)

  • Only written cancellations will be accepted; please ensure you receive an acknowledgment of cancellation from reservations.
  • A fee of 25% of the booking value will be charged if cancellation is less than 60 – 31 days prior to arrival.
  • A fee of 50% of the booking value will be charged if cancellation is less than 30- 15 days prior to arrival.
  • A fee of 100% of the booking value will be charged f cancellation is less than 14 days prior to arrival.
  • All reservations must be cancelled through/ via the original booking channel; failure to do so will result in full payment being required.

FIT Groups, Set Departure Tours, Set Departure Itineraries and Tour Series Deposit, Payment and Cancellation

Policy applies to bookings of eight (8) or more people.

  • A minimum stay of two nights applies throughout the year.
  • A 10% non-refundable deposit will be requested at the time of booking in order to secure rooms.
  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable 90 days prior to arrival.
  • A 100% non-refundable deposit is payable 60 days prior to arrival.
  • All rooming lists are required 30 days prior to arrival.

The following terms and conditions must be agreed and adhered to in order to hold rooms for FIT Groups, Set Departure Tours, Set Departure Itineraries and Tour Series:

General:

Jock Safari Lodge may request room(s) back at any point should it receive a confirmed booking for the same dates. The agent must release the room(s) back to Jock Safari Lodge if it has not been sold at that point. A 10% nonrefundable deposit will be required immediately for room(s) should the agent not wish to release the room(s) back to Jock Safari Lodge.

Cancellations:

  • The cancellation policy is applied in the event of a reduction in rooms. Should one person in a sharing room cancel, the room rate will then revert to a single occupancy and single occupancy supplement will be applicable to the guest.
  • For all cancellations within four months [120 days] of arrival, a fee of 10% of total value per room cancelled will be charged.
  • For all cancellations within three months [90 days] of arrival, a fee of 50% of total value per room cancelled will be charged.
  • For all cancellations within two months [60 days] of arrival, a fee of 100% of total value per room cancelled will be charged.

Payment:

  • 10% non- refundable deposit may be requested at any time during the booking process should Jock Safari Lodge receive a confirmed booking for the same dates. This will allow us to hold rooms in advance and decline any and all other business we get for the same dates.
  • 50% of total group value must be settled three months [90 days] prior to arrival.
    The balance, i.e. full pre-payment, of total group value must be settled two months [60 days] prior to arrival. .

What to advise prior to arrival

  • Where does the reservation originate from?
  • How will guests arrive and depart?
  • What time will guests arrive and depart?
  • Do guests have any special occasion to celebrate?
  • Do guests have any special dietary or other requirements?
  • Contact number and email where guests can be contacted prior to arrival

Our best experience of Kruger was at Jock’s. You can feel the love for nature in the heart and soul of the wonderful owners. The rooms are practically in the wild. We saw elephants just passing in front of the room. Sleeping in matras under the stars (if you want), amazing food in the river bed. Will never forget this experience!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. We had read about Jocks and the strong recommendations. This place is better than ever expected, truly a magical place. The staff were exceptional, food 5 star and location amazing. The safari drives were also amazing and our guide IKE looked after us and was an amazing tracker. There are only 12 rooms so max 24 guest so you get to know the other guest without being overcrowded – the rooms are private and sit on-top of the river bank – you can watch the animals walking past from your day bed. Honestly this place is first class. We were self drive so easy access for Skuska airport or main Kruger gates. As it it a private lodge you get the added bonus of private areas as well as direct access to Kruger – truly amazing place and highly recommended. We were sad to leave and will return.

Jock Safari Lodge is located in the heart of the Kruger national park. It’s amazing location gives you a unique and real safari vibe. The lodge itself looks so amazing, stunning rooms, restaurant and relax areas. When you arrive at the lodge you will be welcomed by the amazing staff, that will tell you what the planning looks like. The planning is really amazing, you will get so much food and drinks, on top of that 2 amazing safaris with the best rangers! The safaris are really something else, private routes and amazing storys. The staff and everyone is really amazing at the lodge, this is a must do experience!

The lodge is advertised as 5 star but I’d happily give it 6. Everything was perfect for the 3 night stay myself and my wife had, The room was spacious, clean and had everything you could want. The double shower cubicle was huge.There was an outside shower and bath, sunbeds, plunge pool, patio table with chairs and even a meshed tented area on the end of the platform overlooking the river bed with a made up double bed in case you wanted to sleep under the stars. The lodge staff were amazing, friendly and nothing was too much for them, Evening meals were fantastic, two of which were Brais (BBQ’s) on the river bed. The game drives were brilliant and our guide (not Driver!!) David, was really friendly and knowledgeable. We got the big 5 twice over. Will definitely be returning for a stay in the winter. Have done previous lodges in Kruger, Zimbabwe and Kenya but this tops them all.

We spent several days here in early March — simply, the best! Very comfortable room and excellent food, with a warm staff. Highlights are the twice a day game drives. This definitely is not “pre-packaged” stuff — your guide (ours was Jacob) has a keen sense of where to find the animals, and drives over river beds and down back trails to find them -in a respectful way. We eagerly anticipated this part of our trip, and it exceeded expectations. You must go to have this experience.

I visited Kruger and Jock Lodge in 2017 and all I wanted to do is come back. That happened in Jan 2022 and once again it was wonderful in every way. The location is on a normally dry river bed so you can see wildlife from your window or terrace. The staff is so gracious and helpful. The wildlife guides are the most knowledgable and enthusiastic I have ever met. I come for the beauty and the animals and Jock Lodge delivers every time.
