With a new year comes good news on Jemu, our rescued rhino. Orphaned after her Mother was killed by poachers late last year, the Jock Environmental Monitoring Unit (JEMU), at Jock Safari Lodge were able to safely transport Jemu to Care for the Wild Rhino Sanctuary, that specialises in the rescue, care and rehabilitation of rhinos.
As you will see from the photos Jemu is doing well and is seen interacting with Zac & Grey and includes a group ‘selfie’. Her confidence grows every day, she is fitting in with the group and has a very healthy appetite. The three rhinos get along incredibly well and provide comfort for one another.
What’s more, The Caleo Foundation Trustees, owners of Jock Safari Lodge, have become official Ambassadors & Sponsors for Jemu and offer monthly financial support to Care For Wild, currently home to Jemu.
We are very excited to watch Jemu continue on her journey to rehabilitation, and look forward to one day seeing her returned to the wilderness where she belongs. We will be sure to keep you updated on her progress!
